The School of Anesthesia is a vital part of Mayo Clinic Health System -Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse and subscribes to the philosophy of that organization. We work to inspire hope, well-being and exceptional health care experiences to patients, students and faculty. We adhere to the core values of respect for every person; compassionate care; abide by ethical and professional standards of care; integrate physical, mental, emotional and spiritual care; collaborate with every member of the health care team; provide excellent service; innovate; and use human and health care resources effectively. We believe that certified registered nurse anesthetists form an integral part of the health care system and use their advanced scientific knowledge, technical skills and core values to serve patients and their health care organization.
Our vision is for students, alumni and faculty to use their knowledge and skills to generate an individualized therapeutic relationship that recognizes the dignity of every patient and his or her right to health care. We believe that upon completion, the student is prepared to be not only a certified registered nurse anesthetist, but with graduate education, a potential educator and researcher in the sense that clinical investigation and problem-solving are an integral part of nurse anesthesia practice. As a result, the student will have developed insight and direction for resourceful, constructive professional practice, regard lifelong education as a professional obligation, use sources of knowledge effectively, and fulfill professional, ethical and societal obligations.
