Mankato Hospital Expansion and Modernization

The Mankato Hospital Expansion and Modernization features the addition of 121 hospital beds within a three-floor vertical expansion atop the Emergency Department, Cancer Center and Specialty Clinic foyer.

Hospital floors within the new tower will link to the existing hospital and include:

  • A new and expanded ICU and Progressive Care Unit.
  • A new Medical-Surgical Unit.
  • A new Family Birth Center, including Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Triage, a cesarean surgical suite, and a Level 2 nursery.

Future state includes 100% private patient rooms and nearly double the room size, updated bathrooms to meet ADA requirements and reduce fall risks, patient room automation features, noise-reducing architectural enhancements and more.

Staff will experience improved work and support space, increased storage capacity to aid in workflow efficiency, improved line-of-sight to patients from decentralized workstations and other amenities to enhance joy at work.

September–November
Construction crews will make several upgrades to Entrance 1 (Emergency Department) and Entrance 2 (Specialty Clinic). Outdoor patient flow will be impacted at Entrance 2.
