U.S. News & World Report recognizes 'Best Hospitals for Maternity Care'
RED WING, Minn. ― Mayo Clinic Health System hospitals in Eau Claire and La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Mankato and Red Wing, Minnesota, received "High Performing" ratings on U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care" list for 2022–2023.
"Congratulations to our maternity care teams in Eau Claire, La Crosse, Mankato and Red Wing on this well-deserved recognition," says Prathibha Varkey, M.B.B.S., president of Mayo Clinic Health System. "We appreciate our patients' trust with their maternity care."
The maternity evaluation looked at data related to uncomplicated pregnancies and measured five different factors:
- Scheduled early deliveries
- Cesarean section rates in low-risk women
- Newborn complications
- Exclusive breast milk feeding rate
- Option for vaginal births after C-section
U.S. News evaluated nearly 650 hospitals that provide labor and delivery services and submitted detailed data to the publication for analysis. Fewer than 300 hospitals received a "High Performing" designation, which is the highest award a hospital can earn in maternity care.
