La Crosse named a 'Best Hospital for Maternity Care'
LA CROSSE, Wis. ― Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse has been named one of the "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care” according to the Leapfrog Group, in partnership with Money magazine.
To be eligible for this list, hospitals had to carry an "A" or "B" letter grade on the spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment and meet criteria in six areas specific to maternity care.
The areas assessed were:
- Early elective deliveries
- Cesarean birth
- Episiotomy
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis
- Bilirubin screening
- High-risk deliveries
"No two pregnancies are the same, and we are proud of how our Birth Center team helps moms and families through the process of labor and delivery," says Rebecca Scarseth, D.O., department chair for OB-GYN in La Crosse. "But we think Leapfrog and Money describe it best: the hospitals on the list deliver the best care a hospital can offer a new life.'"
Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse also has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a "Best Hospital for Maternity Care."
Operating since 2000, the Leapfrog Group is one of many ranking groups that recognize Mayo Clinic Health System as a top choice for patients. "We know that delivering babies is a special time for every family," adds Dr. Scarseth. "Our goal is to provide each patient with the resources they need to feel confident and secure throughout their pregnancy, delivery and after. Whether a first-time or repeat mom, our maternity program offers continued care from the health care professional's office to the delivery room."
